What is Whirlpack ?
Whirlpack is a web based PFEP (Plan For Every Part) database that facilitates collaboration between suppliers and Whirlpool. With Whirlpack, suppliers can submit packaging proposals, obtain approval for those proposals, and document packaging information (i.e. dimensional, pack quantities, load pictures of: part, part in packaging, pallet load, etc). Suppliers can also provide key information with regards to their capacity to produce parts and lead time to supply parts to their customers.
What type of information will suppliers be required to provide?
Suppliers will be required to provide part and packaging dimensions, max capacity for parts or groups of parts (known as Production Families in Whirlpack), manufacturing schedules within their facilities, Lead time information including Tier II, process time within your facility and transportation to Whirlpool plant.
What part information is currently being captured by Whirlpack?
Currently Whirlpack is capturing part information for all parts being supplied from North America and Mexico.
Why do I want to use Whirlpack for Capacity and Lead Time?
To improve our management of capacity and lead time so we become more pro-active verses re-active to help drive down critical supply situations. Whirlpool requires suppliers to provide and maintain the capacity and lead time data for each part sourced.
How often will suppliers be required to update Whirlpack?
To begin all existing parts require capacity data and lead time data to be completed in Whirlpack. We suggest after initial data entry is completed, weekly review your list of parts for newly sourced parts that require data entry. Also, any time your process changes and capacity and lead time needs changed.
How will Whirlpool’s parts & demand be loaded into Whirlpack?
Part load and demand updates: All U.S. plants (excluding Ottawa) will update weekly (Wednesday mornings). All Mexico plants and Ottawa currently update every weekday evening.
Where does the Whirlpool demand values originate?
The Whirlpool demand values originate from the 52 week forecast suppliers receive; Whirlpack receives the same information to update the supplier volume.
What is the time period given for suppliers to update their data?
Data for new parts should be entered within 30 days of the part showing in the supplier’s part list (PFEP).
Can you import part information from a spreadsheet?
No, at this time you can not import part information from a spreadsheet.
What if I need to add another user to Whirlpack?
On the login page there is a link to “Request an ID”. Click the link and fill in the required fields, submit your request. The email provided will receive an email once access has been granted.
